9月14日 it.still.worksAlllllllllllrighty then. Another Goodwill rant. Again, about donors. This time it's about three little words and their numerous variations: "It still works." No it doesn't. Don't lie. Don't flub the truth with anything close to a white lie. 90% of the people who donate this crap and utters those words knows their stuff doesn't work, yet they still lie through their teeth just so that they don't have to take it to the dump. You know what I say? Get over it. Stop lying so you'll have a place to dump your broken crap for free. Honestly I don't know who's worse; the people that bring in good looking stuff that still doesn't work, or the people who bring in the rattiest pieces of shit, still claiming it works. This doesn't happen just once. Noooo. That would be too easy. Today alone I counted 14 donors that gave me this simple line. So please. If you have crap that doesn't work, and you know it doesn't work, don't give it to us. Take it to the dump. We gotta pay dumping bills too, you know. -=Keep it real?.. Don't deny it, either. I've seen some of you out there with spaces that aren't even skinned, let alone have content in them. So onto the first order of business. I finally got myself a laptop. A decent one at that. I've been wanting a new (new being something made within the last 1-2 years, unlike the
Self help books. I imagine they've been around since the human race became so bloody insecure about itself. For all you religious nuts, I present: The Bible. A 2000 year old self help book that's heavy as all hell if you know the right publishers. Now before you go bashing my head in with scriptures, or the book itself, realize I'm not Atheist. I'm Agnostic. I'm open to the idea of religion, and the fact that some (or most) require it to see them through the coming days. I'm personally not convinced by it. Besides, isn't it better to keep an open mind about all things? I mean really. Half the wars that are happening in the middle east are holy wars. Wars based on closed-minded religious beliefs. Okay okay. I have to stop that and get back on track. Self help books. Right. Not the Bible. Something published in the last 50 years. Like maybe THIS ONE! I really wish I
There was another book that was found a few days before this one on sexual exploration. It had another portrait-
I managed to find Dan Clark's official website. The book shown above is out of print, as expected given it's age, and is only briefly mentioned in Dan's biography as his first published book. Oh well. I just wanted to poke fun at portrait covers anyway. There's much more to rant about, but I'll save that for the next post. -=Keep it real?.. I realize, as noted above in the image, that it says "Donation Drive-thru." But please. The meaning behind it is that the lane leading to the donation door is wide enough to drive up to. I've had people shove plastic bags through their windows. I've had people toss their bags at the glass doors that serve as our donation doors. I've had people open the trunk while still in their cars saying "The boxes are in the trunk." I've even had one woman in such a rush, she was feverishly pointing to the garbage bag in her back seat. Now, of course, any employee in that situation can do nothing but grin and bear it. But there is a fine line between customer service and subservient. Yes. We accept your gently used donations with great appreciation. But understand that for both safety and liability reasons, we are generally not allowed to enter the vehicle of any customer donating goods. Even if we're just reaching in with our arms. Please. Take the time to exit your vehicles. We don't bite. Heck, we're actually quite friendly if you give us half the chance. -=Keep it real?.. You'd think that I would have a TON of info for a new post. Well guess what?.. Nah.. I'll save that dull and boring stuff for another post. Right now; A batch of screen shots from Halo 3. So let's begin!
At the moment that's all I have, But rest assured there WILL be more shots to come. http://www.bungie.net/Stats/Halo3/Default.aspx?player=hazard0usWaste -=Keep it real?.. I asked for only one thing this year; a Video iPod. It sounds like a tall order, and normally I would agree. Thing of it is, my parents favour equality between their offspring. I knew a couple months back that they were planning to get my sibling a computer, so I weighed my options and decided on the iPod as an addition to the Sony NetWalkman (for those not in the know, the Net' is their MP3 player line.) I say addition because I really have no intention of giving up the Net'. With a 50 hour battery life (and that has been verified several times,) it makes for a great little player on my headboard while I try to sleep.
The Video iPod will enhance my bus travelling experiences more than anything. Missed an episode of Heroes? DL/Convert/Upload to iPod and bam!.. All caught up while riding on what would have been a boring bus to wherever I was going at the time.
I actually got it the night before the big event so that I could have something to jam to while my almost 2 year old nephew tears into presents and plays with the biggest and loudest of them all as the rest of the family open their presents.
So I have my iPod. The only thing I asked for. I also got a leather carrying case for it as well as a DecalGirl vinyl skin. (pictures at the bottom) I love DecalGirl. I have the Blue Ghost in the Box skin for my original xbox, and if this 360 lasts for a while, I'm planning on getting a skin set for it from them as well. Installing this particular skin was a tad aggrivating, but with patience I got it on without much misalignment. However, even with the MINOR misalignment (minor in this case means a 1mm misalignment,) Installing the clickwheel portion of the skin made it annoying to have the clickwheel buttons 'stick' before actually being pressed down. So off it came (the clickwheel part, not the entire skin,) which is ok, because it would appear that I prefer the matte feel of the clickwheel itself than a glossied vinyl surface.
Everybody was happy this year, and that's all that matters.
Next up: What to do about New Year's...
-=Keep it real?.. I'd rather keep it digital.=- 9月6日 so.much.booze..so.little.sleepA small party with a somewhat closely knit crew of friends that couldn't make it to CNA this year. That's what my Saturday was like. Only people I didn't really know were Shay (Erin's sister, though we never talked before this event,) Vicki (although we have met before, albeit briefly,) and Leeann.
So drunken perversions aside it was a really good party, which about a third of it was spent at the bar playin' pool and shootin' the sh*t. We got back, watched *some* of Silent Hill before people got bored and wanted to play a VG or two. People started passing out at around 5.30am. Not I. Even at the best of times I can not sleep at another person's house. Fill all the holes of the evening with good wholesome perversions and you have yourself a nice little party.
I'm not gonna tell you all that I drank. Suffice it to say it was a lot, and yet not nearly enough. All I ended up with was a buzz.
Short post, but I included a few snaps of the evening in the photos section.
-=Keep it real?.. I'd rather keep it digital.=- 8月11日 the.loop.JT.andzomgwtfbbqsauce!Today on my daily parusal of my favourite sites, I came across a link posted in VGCats' news section. Good ol' Jack Thompson is at it again, targetting yet another Rockstar Games product entitled "Bully." This game hasn't even come out yet and already JT's got his teeth into it. Most of my readers already know my position on violent video games, TV and JT, but for those newcomers I'll give you the ultra condensed version; It it ultimately the PARENTS' responsibility to monitor and restrict their child's gameplay, movie, and TV activities to what they feel is appropriate. JT is nothing more than hot-air blowing media wh*re looking to shape the world as he sees fit. Adam Sessler puts up his dukes to debate JT in this clip, and does an extremely good job of it. Don't believe me? Go watch it yourself. http://www.g4tv.com/attackoftheshow/blog/AOTB/cat/84/The_Loop.html -=Keep it real?.. Since the PC incarnation of Battletech, and its rightful successors in the form of the Mechwarrior series, I've been a fan of mech games.
Since Mechwarrior IV however, the number of western based "guns on two feet" mech games have dwindled. In it's place were a series of Japanese based "lets make them look more human" mech games that, although fun, left me wanting more.
That has once again changed.
Xbox 360 players who keep tabs on upcomming and newly released games know I'm talking about ChromeHounds. This game takes the prize for mech gaming, combining stunning visuals with physics functionality. The weapons look terrifying, and the kickback on some of the larger ones will stop your walking hound cold to keep its stability in check.
The single player missions are OK, and that's about as far as I'm willing to go for them. The grade you get on each mission determines how many items you unlock from that mission. These items, along with those you buy via the multiplayer shop, are what you use to custom build your own hounds. Hounds built with parts from the multiplayer shop, to my distain, are not playable in the single player missions, even though you have the option to build a custom hound in the mission's menu.
But it's the multiplayer portion that shines. You can mull through multiplayer, joining "free battles" like team deathmatch, performing individual missions to boost up your funds to buy bigger and better parts, or you can do the ultimate; You can join in the war.
To do the last, you have to either join or create a squad. At the moment the max number of members is limited to 20, but if all 20 are online, you'll be able to cover more battlefields in little time. Battlefields are 6 on 6 at most for those curious. Once you've been accepted into a squad, it's time to prepare. Ha! You thought I was going to say it's time to party. Being part of a squad is finding out what's needed of you, and if you meet those criteria. Playing the single player missions before ANY attempt to join a squad is recommended, as it will allow you to realize your full potential as a pilot. Knowing whether you're suited to a particular role (Scout, Commander, Defender, Sniper, Soldier, or Heavy Gunner) will mean life or death in the battlefield.
This game was really made for the multiplayer war. The singleplayer missions just serve as a way to obtain parts, and to see which roles you're suited to right away. Sega and From Software did a good job reviving a genre dear to my twitching thumbs.
Oh.. And there won't be any rating, as I didn't really write a review, just an overview. I will say this, if you own a 360, rent it. If you own a 360 and have a thing for mech games, BUY IT.
-=Keep it real?.. I'd rather keep it digital.=- 7月19日 ongoing.adventuresThe heels of Guild Wars: Factions haven't even cooled and another expansion is on it's way. ArenaNET (ANET) has announced the third chapter as Guild Wars: Nightfall. Details are sketchy at this point, since the announcement was made only a day or two ago. However, the press release does state that 2 new professions will be made available; The Dervish, a brand of holy warrior, and the Paragon, the guardian angels of the Elonian people.
There's no doubt that the first chapter in the Guild Wars franchise is the longest between it and Factions, and I have no doubt that this new chapter will be just as long as Factions is, Factions being much more of a balance of PVE and PVP, as well as mixing PVP in with the storyline as an optional side-mission.
If ANET plans to keep it's word of a new chapter every 6 months (it was originally stated that a new expansion would be released within 6-9 months of the last to pay for server maintainence and to keep the service free to players,) then we could be looking at an October, or mid-November release. Just in time for the holiday shopping season.
Now this doesn't mean that GW:Factions is dead in the water. Far from it in fact. They have a TON of unexplored area that they could slap on mini-expansions like they did with Sorrow's Furnace in the first game.
This could land a serious blow to World of Warcraft, as it has yet to release their first major expansion. Most will say "it's all about quality over quantity," and I'll look at them, laugh, and continue with my day. I own both WoW and GW, and although there's more micromanagement involved with WoW, it just doesn't provide me with an intreguing storyline, or the ability to play the entire game with AI companions (Not that I would, but I'd like the chance to try.) And let's face it; female ogres are just plain nasty looking.
The simplicity of Guild Wars is what makes it work. However, for Nightfall, I'd like to see a happy medium between the "Ball Busting Century" needed to reach level 20 in Tyria and the "Power-Levelling Island that turns n00bs into level 20 n00bs" of Cantha.
Ooo.. That's another WoW argument I get from people.. "HAHA!.. Only 20 lvls?. WoW pwnz j00 wit 60, plus more wit the expanzion!!!11!1!"
My response? F*ck off. 20 levels is more than enough. After that, it's pure skill.
Don't like that answer? F*ck off anyway.
I like both, but I like GW much more. I'm just sick of the extremists in both worlds that say if you play any other game, you're a loser and should burn at the stake for doing so.

6月19日 character.originsA show of hands please. Who here plays MMORPGs? Ever create a character and wonder, why are they in this world they're in? What got them where they are? I do. That's why for every character I make I try to give them a bit of a backstory. Nothing big, mind you. A paragraph or two to get the feel of the character down, as well as why they chose what they chose to be.
I play Guild Wars, and got Factions for my birthday. So of course, I HAD to create a backstory for my new character. Problem is, what once was a one paragrah wonder, quickly dived into a complete scene that could be played out in a movie. Since most of my readers don't play guild wars (that i know of, hint hint) and as such can't view the bio on the guild site, I give it to you here and now. The bio of my assassin; Kazume Takemoto.
Kazume was born in the heart of Kaineng City. Her years as a child were simple and joyful. That is until the Am Fah, and rival guild the Jade Brotherhood, formed an inner city war with each other. It was an uneventful and surprisingly quiet afternoon walk with her parents through Bukdek Byway when chaos befell the 8 year old girl. Several groups of Am Fah and Jade Brotherhood filled the street, shouting and fighting as terrified civilians began fleeing the area. Kazume, torn from her mother and father in the mass of people, began shouting for them. Hoping they would see her. Hoping they would come after her. It's all the little girl wanted. The crowd of people swelled around little Kazume, cutting sight of her parents away from her. Kazume screamed louder, trying to fight her way back to her mother's arms, but the mass of panic-stricken bodies were too much for her alone. A gap appeared before her, giving her room to pass through. Kazume's eyes widened at this opportunity. She took it, barrelling through the gap, past the people running in the opposite direction. All Kazume wished for was her mother's open arms. That wish sank into the depths of the Undercity when she finally broke through the crowd into open streetside. The happiness that had lifted her spirit upon seeing her way back to her parents quickly turned into a cold hand, gripping at her heart. What Kazume saw that day no child should ever have to see. Her mother, kneeling on the ground like a dog, wept as one of the Am Fah held her in place while pulling back her hair so that she was facing her beloved husband. He too was bound by Am Fah, but unlike his wife, his arms were held out by the two Am Fah holding him. The biggest Am Fah, presumably the leader of this particular group, circled the bound man. The leader stopped behind him, gazing at the terrified look upon the woman's face. He grinned. It was a grin that was never to be forgotten. Not by the woman. Not by the Am Fah. Certainly not by the small child in the distance, frozen stiff with fear. In what seemed like the blink of an eye, the leader of the Am Fah group unsheathed his Sunqua Blade and impaled it in the man's back, slicing through fabric, flesh, and bone. The man fell lifeless to the ground, a pool of blood forming underneath him. The woman cried out. The leader, and his cohorts, laughed. The little girl stood still. "You will join your lover soon enough. But not until we've had our fun..." Kazume would never forget these words, spoken by the big Am Fah man as he knelt down and licked her mother's cheek. Her mother spat in the man's face, and was punished with a slap to her own. The thunderous sound of flesh slapping flesh resonated in the air, seeping into every crack. The big man pulled Kazume's mother up by the neck, promising her more fun than that shell of a man laying before her could have ever given her, then threw her into the waiting arms of a couple of subordinates. The group disappeared into an alleyway, and all was quiet again. The girl stood fast. Not wanting to make a sound. Not wanting them to return. Not wanting them to take her as well. Kazume quickly awoke from her nightmare, sitting up in bed. Those events took place ten years ago, yet it rang through her mind as if they only happened yesterday. Kazume swore on the day of her orphaning, that she would find the people responsible and seek vengence for their acts upon her family. A tear ran down Kazume's cheek as she peered out the window near her bed, judging the day's time by the sun. "Oh no!.. I'll be late for Headmaster Lee's lesson!" The young assassin trainee thought as she sprung from her bunk, racing towards her destiny... 6月8日 profession.discriminationTime to gripe. I KNOW you people have missed this.. >:D
Today's topic is Guild Wars and the discrimination people have against certain professions. Lately, with the release of Factions (the ever so lovely expansion/stand alone if you can't afford both,) people have delt HUGE amounts of discrimination against one of the new professions. This being the assassin.
I'm an assassin. I know this discrimination exists.
"7/8 LFG for mission. we already have an assassin so don't even try it." <- That was pulled from the chat log late last night for one of the mission areas. Now while it states that they already have an assassin and would be viewed as indiscriminate, the way it was said is. Not only that, but they could have been lying when they said they had an assassin in the first place.
What most (and I mean most because there are some out there that put faith in other players) don't realize is that every single profession was put in the game for a reason. It's not about what looks prettier (if that were the case, every single male character in the original game would look WAY better than they do,) it's about combining efforts and working as a team.
Assassins are not tanks.
They were never meant to be. They go in, kill, and get the hell outta there to heal. Rinse and repeat. Players thinking that assassins are just sneaky warriors are noobs and should be re-educated. Any player with some experience under his belt would realize that assassins have nowhere near the armor level warriors do, and as such, would be decimated if they stayed in a fight that was lasting too long.
Another thing that sets assassins apart from the rest of the professions is skill chaining. Now while every profession uses skills that enhance other skills, the assassin's attack skills actually have a set rhythm to them. Lead attack -> Offhand attack -> Dual attack. If you go and perform a dual attack that REQUIRES an offhand attack first, you'll miss. For anyone not paying attention, this can seriously undermine your rhythm and the next 2-3 skill attacks you perform also have the high potential to miss. Now I put requires in caps because there are some offhand and dual attack skills that do not need the prerequiste attack skill.
Like the warrior, the assassin has a very low energy level. Where the warrior has 20 energy, the assassin only has 25. The warrior has a fallback; Adrenaline. Most of the warriors high damage attacks from from adreno skills, thus offsetting the need for high energy. The assassin doesn't have an adreno system, and is forced to wait for energy to recharge before they can cause serious damage. This too pertains to the theory that assassins go in, they kill, then promptly gets the hell out of the fighting circle to recharge. This is where the assassin's unique attribute, critical strike, comes into play. For each level, it gives you +1% chance to critical strike a target. If you have it hgh enough, you can gain as much as +3 energy back into your pool per crit. The addition of the skill 'Critical Eye' further increases that chance to crit. As it stands now, with Critical Eye, I have a 16% chance to perform a critical strike. In some of the lower levels I've revisited, I've actually had crit strings 4-6 hits long.
My point is this: The assassin is probably the hardest profession to play due to the complex nature of their skillset and low energy pool. However, people need to realize that not all us assassins are noobs, and that the few of us that actually know what we're doing, can actually get the job done with the rest of you.
Discrimination in the game, as in real life, makes the experience bitter and distasteful. As such, you're ruining peoples' expectations of fellowship, as well as creating a bad name for all players. This leads to the lowering of the game's population, and that could have serious consequences like Anet not being able to maintain servers, and the eventual shut down of all servers that would kill everyones game experience.
This is not a matter to take lightly. The monks had an in-game strike because they were being mistreated and verbally abused. It worked.
Sad thing is, I doubt anyone would learn their wrongs if assassins went on strike.
Start trusting in the assassins. Some of them really do know what they're doing.
-=Keep it real?.. I'd rather keep it digital.=- 6月6日 back.to.the.musicSad but true, I'm afraid.
With my unrulely schedule, it's next to improbable to make regular updates to the 'Excel Saga Moments' section. It may return sometime in the future, but for now it's back to the badass music of my buddies over at 5hr4pn3l.
The 360 Spring Update is out, and here are a few things I've noticed in this season's build:
If I've missed anything, let me know, and I'll add it in an edit. -=Keep it real?.. I'd rather keep it digital.=- EDIT: Appearently filelodge.com is having server issues again. Anyone know of a free filehost site? 4月3日 please.stand.byLast week the server I have my files hosted on was upgrading their servers to accomidate the growth of their userbase. Because of this, and to offset any further downtime, I've decided to change the Excel Saga Moment schedule to every 2 weeks instead of every week. This way everyone has a chance to see the clip before it gets lost in a sea of zero-bits.
That is all.
Message sent.
End of file.
Signing off.

-=Keep it real?.. I'd rather keep it digital.=- 3月20日 conquest.deniedSo today I'm opening a new feature in my blog. Every week or so I'll try to pop in a random scene of Excel Saga as a moment of goofofficity (shut up I can make up words too yanno.) If you've seen the series and can name off what episode it was in, well.. You get a cookie.*
So sit back.. Relax.. and enjoy the clips... Oh.. and comment often.
-=Keep it real?.. I'd rather keep it digital.=-
*Ccookies awarded are fictional and do not represent anything else but bragging rights for getting the answer correct first. 2月26日 my.2k5.song..
2月3日 live.spaceThey've done it!
I know, not big thrill to those who aren't gamers. But yanno what?.. Don't care. I'm a gamer, and it's nice to see that M$ has made some steps to integrating XboxLIVE features with msn spaces.
Now all they need to do is finish beta testing live messenger.. BTW, if anyone has a spare invite for that, could you throw one over this way?.. heh.
-=Keep it real?.. I's rather keep it digital.=- 1月17日 random.babblethings.are.not.as.they.seem
Thaaaaaaaat's right.. Take the red pill.
Anyways.. Turns out M$ does have plans to integrate XboxLIVE with msn spaces, and I'm ready for it. From the looks of things, the GamerCard will be a module and there will be some LIVE related themes available. I'd like to see a customizable theme, but until I see a better theme, I'll stick with this one.
As you can see, there have been some changes. A new media player module, and an animated profile module. Thanks go out to D3V and his msnSpace.
The music currently playing is Vision by 5hr4pn3L. These guys are awesome in their work and can't wait to hear more from them. Visit their site here.
Enough of the babble.. Resume your daily drudgery.
-=Keep it real?.. I'd rather keep it digital.=- 12月26日 xboxlive.gamercardIt would have been nice to put my gamercard into my posts as an addition to my regular sign-off, but appearently the MSN network feels that the HTML used to produce the interactive card is a violation of security and/or formatting policy. Funny, since the parent company has been working to integrate everything together. I guess they just forgot about the hundreds, if not thousands of spaces users that also have xbox live. (and a 360 to make the gamercard possible)
Gonna go back to bumping up my Halo2 Levels. If you didn't notice, there's a new list on my blog space for the various Live trackers attached to my account, and will be adding more when they become available.
-=Keep it real?.. I'd rather keep it digital.=- 12月17日 yeah.yeahI know... I'm not making good on my promises. I did promise more posts, and various reasons have prevented me from doing such. Relationships ending, people moving, even new digital addictions have all detached my interest in continuing this blogspace.
So what do I do?..
Do I continue to not post and make you all believe what you want? Do I turn my blog into the stereotypical 'Counsellor's couch' and talk about every single problem in my life, possibly driving you all into insanity? Or do I continue to bash on the stupid things in life giving you, the people, something to think about while my own sanity is erased from existence?
I might just take the next couple of days to think about it myself. For now, I'll cradle my xbox360 like a newborn baby, and wonder how my personal life looks simple to others, yet tears apart at my insides.
-=Keep it real?.. I'd rather keep it digital.=- 10月15日 apologies.are.in.orderI know I haven't written a blog entry in quite sometime, and for that I'm sorry.
So here's the update. I'm still playing Guild Wars. I just can't get enough of this game. I may even end up buying a second copy just so that I can have more characters to play around with (yes I have 4 that are all in progress, one of which has finished the main storyline.)
For Xbox.. There's Burnout Revenge and a little gem called Indigo Prophecy. I expect most of my gamer readers already know what Burnout Revenge is, so I'll move on to the lesser known title. Before I give you the scoop on this one, I just have 3 words to say; PLAY THIS GAME. If you love murder mysteries (or even the paranormal,) this game could be right up your alley.
You play as Lucas Kane. Ordinary guy living an ordinary life. Until one cold January night. See, you end up killing a man in cold blood in the washroom. But it wasn't you. Somebody posessed you to kill that man, and you have to find out why before the cops haul you away.
Now here's the kicker. You also play the investigators.
I'll give you a minute to ponder that one...
Ok. Time's up. Yes. You do play both the killer and the cops investigating. Weird?.. For a game, yes. Detrimental to the storyline? Not in the least. It gives you 2 active goals in the game. While playing Lucas, you have to avoid capture while searching for the truth. When the story flips over to the investigators, your job is to discover who committed the murder, then capture him. Obviously to keep the story going, you're gonna have to get Lucas out of a LOT of trouble.
So rent or buy Indigo Prophecy. It's out on PC, Xbox, and PS2.
Last bit of digitalized info for the masses would be my new digital camera. Over 2 months ago, I was originally going to purchase the Fuji FinePix S5100. I then read an article posted the day before I read everything on the S5100 that the S5200 was to be released in October. So I waited. And waited. Until finally, that fated day arrived and I was able to buy the prize I so sought after for 2 long months. And I'm not disappointed. This camera has everything I could want without going to a true SLR digital camera. (Attached is a pic of my nephew, one of my more professional shots.)
I can't wait to take this baby to Anime North next year.
Until next time.
